DTS FIELD/OUTREACH ASSIGNMENT PHASE

Drama ActivitiesThe 12-week field assignment is designed so that you can experience the world first hand by witnessing societal needs, and explore solutions from a biblical perspective. For this season, the regions that we are focusing on are Australia, Asia, America, and our home in the Pacific. Field assignments may be held in either one of these places or all at one time.

Applying the principles and perspectives learned during the classroom phase, you will see how God enriches and empowers you to extend His kingdom on earth. You will be able to deliver the message of life and hope that brings healing to the nations. This may be done in a variety of ways such as drama, dance, music, testimonies, and community service to the poor and needy, as well as media projects.

Teams may also be able to work alongside an existing work to help develop new programs, or to simply bring new believers into that fellowship. All of this work will be captured through digital media and students will have a chance to edit and produce their work before returning back to American Samoa, sharing with the community what God has done through them.

DTS CLASSROOM PHASE

The Classroom Phase includes a curriculum that brings in powerful teaching from Christian leaders, media professionals, and veteran missionaries on topics such as:

1. Hearing God’s voice
2. The Character and Nature of God
3. The Father Heart of God
4. Worship and Spiritual Warfare
5. Gaining God’s Heart for a World in Need
6. Strategic Use of Media for Evangelism
7. Cross-Cultural Communication
8. Biblical Worldview

Staff and students, including yourself, will form small support groups to build deeper relationships with each other. These support groups will provide an opportunity for you, and others, to ask questions and utilize critical thinking regarding the weekly teachings, and to pray for one another.

Intercession is a vital part of growing in God. Intercession prayer is when we put ourselves in the place of identification with existing needs, seeking God’s direction on how to pray for those needs, and His intervention for a particular need. You, staff and other students will be placed in an intercession group that will focus mainly on the needs of the world nations, rather than our own personal needs.

Each day will begin with personal devotions where you will be alone with God. It is the most important time of the day for personal growth.

Textbooks will be issued for required readings that will compliment the classroom curriculum. However, the most important textbook in the school is the Christian Bible.

In order to significantly keep the cost of the school down to its minimum, you and other students will be involved in community responsibilities by providing needed help in areas such as maintenance, cooking, cleaning, office work, etc. Finding the joy to work and work hard is an important part of training as the Bible encourages us to do everything as unto the Lord.
